Sydney's Designs sells a little of everything from dog supplies and accessories to kids clothes.

Under The Brim sells crocheted hats and sewn hats. All are different and original in their own way.

At this time I was released from my job. While job hunting is so exciting, I thought I could use my time to be productive and creative. For Christmas, my mom gave me a sewing machine. I started learning everything I could about sewing. I started out with making a few girls dresses. Surprised me, they came out great! That encouraged me to challenge myself with other projects. I found myself working in my studio countless hours. Eventually I found Etsy.com! I started with simple- small items and evolved my shop to what it is today. I make/sell handmade/hand stuffed pet beds and accessories, crocheted/sewn blankets/some kids clothing/some select vintage items.

My creative process is very A.D.D. I work on several projects at once. If I make myself sit down and focus, I set up an assembly line of processes, well for sewing. Cut the pattern out, iron the fabrics, cut the all the patterns onto the fabric, re-iron if necessary; Velcro? Magnetic Buttons? They have to go in before sewing; pin everything together; sew; iron; top stitch; Iron and starch; sew label on. (Some items I have to waterproof, such as my dog coats)

As for Under The Brim, I thought it necessary to separate into two shops. As for crocheting, I’ve very nonchalant about it. I pick out the colors I like at the time, and go with it. I work on them when I sit in front of the TV, at Lunch, or on the road. I try to find decorative items to place on the sides of the hats to make them look a little fancier.

Materials:
I have a few favorite fabric designers but I’m an equal opportunity fabric buyer. I shop mainly on Hairy Hines @ Surplus Textiles. They have some great pricing. I get into a lot of trouble when I go down to get more fabric.
